Johann Heinrich Liebeskind
Johann Heinrich Liebeskind , also Johann Heinrich von Liebeskind (born April 24, 1768 in Bayreuth , Upper Franconia , † June 18, 1847 in Eichstätt , Upper Bavaria ) was a German lawyer and author.
Life
Liebeskind was the son of the flautist and Bayreuth chamber musician Georg Gotthelf Liebeskind. His mother Carolina Eleonora Brigitta, b. Mainly, died shortly after his birth. His father, who had been offered a job in Ansbach, had left his son with relatives. He married again in December 1771 and brought his son to Ansbach in 1772, where he grew up and attended grammar school from 1776.
Although Liebeskind was the son and grandson of musicians, he began to study law at the University of Erlangen in April 1787 , where he was accepted into the " Institute of Morals and Fine Sciences " in 1788 . As court master of Karl Philipp von Gemmingen (1771-1831), the son of the margrave Ansbach minister Karl Friedrich Reinhard von Gemmingen , he accompanied him in October 1790 to the University of Göttingen , where he continued his studies. On 30 January 1793, he was with the work De iure iusta in facienda explicatione canonis, cessante causa effectus cessat doctorate .
In the same year he became a consultant in Riga and in 1794 a judicial commissioner and criminal adviser in Königsberg . From 1797 he was royal Prussian government councilor in Ansbach and from 1807 royal Bavarian senior justice councilor in Bamberg . In 1808 he became a judge of appeals in Munich . In 1827 he was appointed director of the appellate court in Landshut , but already two years later (1829) he moved to Ansbach in this position, from 1832 he was back in Landshut and again in Ansbach in 1833. On March 14, 1838, Liebeskind was transferred to Eichstätt for the last time with the relocation of the Court of Appeal for Middle Franconia. He retired in July of the same year.
Liebeskind was married to the writer and translator Meta Forkel (married), née Wedekind (* February 22, 1765; † 1853). When they met is not known, at the beginning of 1792 the then still married Meta Forkel was pregnant by the student Liebeskind and retired to Frensdorf near Bamberg until the birth of their son Adalbert on October 2, 1792 . In 1794 Liebeskind married Meta Forkel. He became a father several times: His sons are Friedrich (born January 14, 1798), Ferdinand (born April 27, 1800) and Heinrich Ludwig (born May 6, 1802). A daughter Antonia, born in 1794, was only four years old.
On June 18, 1847, Liebeskind died “early 4 ½ o'clock” in Eichstätt “of old age” and was buried there on June 20. Liebeskind was 79 years and 2 months old. His wife died six years later, also in Eichstätt.
Liebeskind was known for his virtuoso flute playing and published several essays on the subject. The memories of his writings are of lasting importance, especially because of the depiction of the events around the end of the Mainz Republic in 1793, as a result of which his lover and later wife Meta was imprisoned at the Königstein fortress for several months because she was considered a Jacobin . Liebeskind took part in intellectual life in what was then Germany and corresponded a. a. with the philosophers Hegel and Kant .
It is no longer possible to determine when Liebeskind was raised to the nobility , as the personnel files were destroyed in the Second World War. It is possible that he was ennobled by Maximilian I Joseph as early as 1817 ; in any case , the ennoblement had already occurred in 1825 .
