Johann Markus von Altringen
Johann Markus von Altringen (also Johann Marcus Graf von Altringen , Johann Mark von Aldringen or Johann Max Altringen ; born November 5, 1592 in Luxembourg ; † February 3, 1664 ) was a Roman Catholic clergyman and bishop of Seckau .
He was the brother of the imperial military leader Johann von Aldringen (1588–1634). Johann Markus von Altringen studied in Cologne. From 1628 he was treasurer (consistorial director) in Salzburg and from 1629 canon in Olomouc, before he was appointed bishop of Seckau on August 25, 1633. The episcopal ordination donated to him on August 28 of the same year Paris von Lodron , the Archbishop of Salzburg . After his brother's death in 1643, he inherited the library of the dukes of Mantua, which he had stolen, and this formed the basis for the diocesan library of Seckau.
He made his will on January 17th, 1660, stating that his private library should be incorporated into the diocesan library.
