Ottokar Maria von Attems
Ottokar Maria Graf von Attems (born February 16, 1815 in Graz ; † April 12, 1867 there ) was Prince-Bishop of Seckau and from 1853 to 1859 also Apostolic Administrator of the Diocese of Leoben .
Life
Ottokar Maria Graf Attems came from the noble Attems family and attended the Theresian Knight Academy in Vienna. Then came Attems in the Graz seminary and was on 22 August 1837 priests ordained . After various positions as a pastor, he became pastor of Pöls in 1841 ; In 1850 he became a doctor of theology doctorate , the following year he became cathedral and parish priest in Salzburg .
On September 10, 1853, the Archbishop of Salzburg, Maximilian Joseph von Tarnóczy, appointed him Prince-Bishop of Seckau, which at the same time involved taking over as administrator of Leoben. On November 6th of the same year Attems received the episcopal ordination from the archbishop . The final unification of the dioceses of Leoben and Seckau fell during his term of office. The politically liberal Count Attems was also a member of the manor house , in whose meetings he also took part.
