Johann Friedrich Paternus Count von Waldstein and Wartenberg (born August 21, 1756 in Vienna ; † April 15, 1812 ) was Salzburg Cathedral Dean from 1797 to 1802 and Bishop of Seckau from 1802 to 1812 .

biography

Johann Friedrich was born in Vienna in 1756 as the second son of the then Imperial Chamberlain Emanuel Philibert Johann Count von Waldstein and Wartenberg (1731–1775), later Imperial Chamberlain and Lord zu Dux , and Maria Anna Theresa Princess von und zu Liechtenstein (1738–1814) born. His grandfather, Count Franz Joseph (1709–1771), joined the Capuchin order as a widower . His great-great-uncle (1642–1694) Johann Friedrich Graf von Waldstein was Archbishop of Prague .

Canon of Salzburg

Johann Friedrich was born on March 25, 1795 ? ordained a priest of the Archdiocese of Salzburg . He was canon of Salzburg (sworn up in 1782) and Augsburg ( Bavaria ). On November 20, 1797 he was elected cathedral dean by the cathedral chapter . From 1800 to 1802 he was a member of the governorship left behind by Archbishop Hieronymus von Colloredo , who had fled to Vienna .

Bishop of Seckau

Archbishop Colloredo consecrated him bishop on August 15, 1802. Until his death in 1812, Count Johann Friedrich was called Johann VI. Prince-Bishop of Seckau.
