Johann Baptist Zwerger , also Johannes Zwerger , (born June 23, 1824 in Altrei (South Tyrol), † August 14, 1893 in Graz ) was Prince-Bishop of Seckau .

Life

The son of a family that had lived in Altrei for a long time became a clergyman, professor at the seminary in Trient , vicar general for the German part of the diocese of Trento in 1863 and Prince-Bishop of Seckau in 1867 . As a council father, Zwerger took part in the sessions of the First Vatican Council and belonged to the majority who accepted the dogma of infallibility . He also became known through the large construction project of the Herz-Jesu-Kirche (Graz) .
