Joseph Philipp Franz von Spaur

Joseph von Spaur , also Joseph Philipp Franz Reichsgraf von Spaur (born September 23, 1718 in Innsbruck , † May 26, 1791 in Brixen ) was Bishop of Seckau and Prince-Bishop of Brixen .

The von Spaur family is a noble family that had been raised to the rank of imperial count. Joseph was the son of Count Johann Franz Wilhelm von Spaur and Anna Maximiliane, born Countess von Trapp . Spaur was ordained a priest in 1741. In 1763 he became Bishop of Seckau . He was then from 1779 to 1791 Prince-Bishop of Brixen. His grave slab is in the Brixen Cathedral .
