Ignaz Franz Stanislaus Reichsgraf von Spaur (born May 8, 1729 in Innsbruck , † March 2, 1779 in Brixen ) was Prince-Bishop of Brixen .

The von Spaur family is a noble family that had been raised to the rank of imperial count. Ignaz was the son of Count Johann Franz Wilhelm von Spaur and Anna Maximiliane, born Countess von Trapp . Spaur was ordained a priest in 1756 and was canon in Salzburg until 1776 , and from 1763 also canon in Bressanone. In 1776 he became coadjutor of Brixen with assured successor to the bishopric and auxiliary bishop of Chrysopolis in Arabia . In 1778 he succeeded his uncle Leopold von Spaur as Prince-Bishop of Brixen, but died the following year. His successor in this office was his brother Joseph von Spaur .

Spaur was a friend and patron of the Mozart family. Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart had composed a mass for Spaur's episcopal ordination by Prince Archbishop Hieronymus von Colloredo on November 17, 1776 in Salzburg Cathedral . Leopold Mozart mentioned this mass in a letter to Wolfgang Amadus in 1778 and called it "Spaur Mass". According to recent music-historical research, this mass is the mass in C major KV 257 . Previously, for decades, following an unproven assumption by Alfred Einstein in the 3rd edition of the Köchel catalog, the Missa brevis in C major KV 258 was regarded as the "Spaur Mass".
