Johann Witt (born November 13, 1986 in Kazakh SSR , Soviet Union ) is a German boxer . He won the European Championship for amateurs in 2011 in Ankara a bronze medal in the heavyweight division .

Career

Johann Witt was born to parents of German origin in a small village in the Kazakh SSR. His father was a boxer in his youth, Johann Witt had no opportunity to practice this sport in Kazakhstan. Only after the Witt family moved to Germany in 2003 did he start boxing at BC Ravensburg . The burly athlete, who soon joined the German Armed Forces , fights in the heavyweight division, the weight class up to 91 kg body weight. He is now a member of BR Villingen-Schwenningen and fought in the 2nd German Bundesliga for Nordhäuser SV .

In 2007 he launched the first time at a German Championship of elite boxers and won there after a defeat in the semifinal against Lukas Schulz from Bahrenfelder SV (8:27) a bronze medal . At the German championship in 2008 he lost in the quarterfinals to Artur Hofmeister and reached 5th place. In 2009 he won a bronze medal again, where he was defeated in the semifinals against the routeier Alexander Powernow from BC Gifhorn (2: 8). He also won a bronze medal at the German championship in 2010, after defeating Dimitri Propp, Straubing , in the semifinals against Stefan Sittner from Marl by just under on points (12:14).

In 2012 Johann Witt could no longer build on the successes of 2011. He was eliminated in March 2012 at the Chemistry Cup tournament in Halle (Saale) in the round of 16 after a big fight after a point defeat against Artur Beterbijew , Russia (11:14). In April 2012 he was used at the only European Olympic qualification tournament in Trabzon. There he was defeated in the round of 16 against Vladimir Cheles, Moldova, but clearly on points (10:19). In 2013 he won the German heavyweight championship after defeating Eugen Weigel, Ehsan Maudodi and Artur Mann. At the beginning of 2014 he boxed twice in Team Germany as part of the World Series of Boxing. He lost in Buenos Aires against Yamil Peralta, Team ARG Condors and in Frankfurt against Imre Szellő , Team Italia Thunder, each on points. In June 2014 Johann Witt won the CISM military world championships in Almaty in the heavyweight division with a technical knockout victory in the 1st round over Moosa Ahmed Ibrahim, United Arab Emirates, a point win over Gidelson Oliveira, Brazil and a point defeat against Askar Abdullaev, Kazakhstan, a bronze medal. In the same year, Witt was eliminated from the German championships in the semifinals against Ali Kiyidin.

World Series of Boxing

In the 2013/14 season Witt fought three times for Team Germany in the World Series of Boxing , but lost all three fights. His opponents were Chouaib Bouloudinats , Imre Szellő and Yamil Peralta .
