Johannes Kreidler (born May 31, 1946 in Grünmettstetten ) is a German Roman Catholic clergyman and auxiliary bishop emeritus in Rottenburg-Stuttgart .

Life

Johannes Kreidler studied Catholic theology in Tübingen and Paris from 1966 to 1970 . He received in the March 18, 1972 Rottenburg am Neckar the priesthood . He initially worked as vicar in Stuttgart-Bad Cannstatt, then secretary to Bishops Carl Joseph Leiprecht and Georg Moser . From 1977 to 1980 Kreidler was a repetiteur at the Tübingen Theologenkonvikt Wilhelmsstift . In 1980 he became assistant to the then professor Walter Kasper at the chair for dogmatics at the Catholic-Theological Faculty of the University of Tübingen . In 1986, he was with a thesis on the theology of life of Karl Adam to Dr. theol. PhD . From 1986 to 1991 he was director of the Rottenburg seminary .

On June 6, 1991, he was appointed titular bishop of Edistiana and auxiliary bishop in the diocese of Rottenburg-Stuttgart by Pope John Paul II . On August 31, 1991 he received in Rottenburg Cathedral of St. Martin by Walter Kasper , the episcopal ordination . Co-consecrators were the auxiliary bishops Bernhard Rieger and Franz Josef Kuhnle . On August 31, 1991, he was appointed Episcopal Vicar and until 2004 was Head of Department I of the Episcopal Ordinariate, responsible for the training of priests and theologians as well as the religious education of the pastoral services. In 1999/2000 he was also the diocesan administrator of the Rottenburg-Stuttgart diocese. In 2004 he became Head of Department VIII - Liturgy, Art, Church Music, Architecture and Monument Preservation. Johannes Kreidler was also dean of the cathedral until July 2015 and was officially a member of the art association of the diocese of Rottenburg-Stuttgart without voting rights .

In the German Bishops' Conference , Johannes Kreidler was a member of the Commission for Spiritual Professions and Church Services , the Commission for Marriage and Family and the Sub-Commission for Development Issues (especially MISEREOR) . He was also a member of the working group for full-time pastoral services and of the Federal Working Group on the Permanent Diaconate . He is also a member of the theological association AV Albertus Magnus , Tübingen, as well as an honorary member of the Catholic student associations AV Cheruskia Tübingen in the CV and KStV Alamannia Tübingen in the KV , as well as a member of the board of trustees of the Eugen Bolz Foundation .

Pope Francis accepted his early resignation on March 2, 2017. He initially retained his office as cathedral capitular and head of the main department for liturgy, art and church music, but gave them up in the course of the same year.
