Johannes Riede
Johannes Riede (born March 1, 1916 in Ulm ; † July 1, 1997 in Schwäbisch Gmünd ) was a German, Roman Catholic clergyman , theologian , educator and university professor .
Life
The 1940 priest consecrated and doctorate theologian Riede worked as a teacher at various schools so on Parler-Gymnasium Schwabisch Gmund from 1951 to 1954. In 1954 he was a lecturer , from 1964 professor of Catholic theology and religious education at the College of Education Schwabisch Gmund whose He was rector from 1968 to 1974. During his tenure, the university's student body doubled. He belonged to the group of speakers for the ARD program Das Wort zum Sonntag and was involved in the Catholic youth organization Heliand. In 1978 he retired .
Honors
He was awarded the honorary title of Monsignor and in 1991 the Medal of Merit of the State of Baden-Württemberg . Since 1978 he has been the recipient of the Federal Cross of Merit on Ribbon . In addition, he had been an honorary citizen of the Schwäbisch Gmünd University of Education since 1979 .
In Schwäbisch Gmünd, the Johannes-Riede-Weg was named after him.
