Johannisberg is a district of the small Upper Bavarian town of Penzberg in the Weilheim-Schongau district . The village is located about one kilometer southwest of the Penzberg town center, but is now connected to it by continuous development.
The original hamlet of Johannisberg was built between 1870 and 1875 in the area of today's Johannisberg street. It developed as a settlement of workers from the Penzberg mine around a farm that was referred to in a map from 1721 as "Albetshof". In the official gazette of the Kgl. The State Ministry of the Interior announced on August 5, 1876 that King Ludwig II approved that the “ hamlet newly created in the Sindelsdorf district should take the name 'Johannisberg' and continue to use it”. In 1935 the reorganization to Penzberg took place.
