John Bowler (born April 4, 1984 in Park Ridge , Illinois ) is a retired American basketball player .

The 2.04 m tall and 129 kg heavy center played for the Eagles of Eastern Michigan University until 2006 . In the 2005/06 season he was selected by the coaches of the Mid-American Conference (MAC) of the NCAA for "Player of the Year" in his position.

Then Bowler switched to the German Bundesliga as a professional in 2006 to the Telekom Baskets from Bonn . In the 2007/2008 season , John Bowler was able to advance with his team to the play-off final series of the championship, but had to pass due to an injury. After losing the final series, he extended his contract until the end of the 2009/2010 season. Also in the 2009/2010 season he had to struggle with several injuries and could not prevent the baskets from being eliminated in the quarter-finals. After four years in Bonn, Bowler did not receive a new contract with Telekom Baskets.

For the following season 2010/11 Bowler received a contract with the league competitor from Ludwigsburg . After the club missed the championship play-offs, he injured himself so badly in the following season in January 2012 that he was out for the remainder of the 2011/2012 season. After a coach change during the season, he received no new contract for the following season. Bowler then decided to end his active career due to his sports injuries.
