John Terry (born January 25, 1950 in Florida ) is an American actor.

Life

John Terry originally built wooden houses in North Carolina . He played on a provincial stage there before moving on to Alaska , where he started a rafting company. It wasn't until he was 30 that he moved to New York City to become a full-time actor.

Terry made his film debut after appearing on the series The Freaky ("Soap", 1978) in the title role of the fantasy film Hawk - Guardian of the Magic Sword (Hawk the Slayer, 1980) opposite Jack Palance . His career reached its peak in 1987 when he got the role of Lieutenant Lockart in Stanley Kubrick's Full Metal Jacket and the role of Felix Leiter in the movie James Bond 007 .

In the early 90s he played a role as the father ( Ed Clemons ) of a very young Ben Affleck ( Joe Willie Clemons ) in the short-lived television series Against the Grain . Shortly thereafter, he played a psychiatrist, Dr. in eight episodes of the series Emergency Room. David “Div” Cvetic, who had a love affair with Dr. Lewis did before disappearing after a nervous breakdown.

Particularly minor roles in less significant television films followed until he found new success on television in 2003. In the second season of the television series 24 , he played alongside Kiefer Sutherland the role of businessman Bob Warner, who has to discover that his daughter is an ice-cold terrorist, while the other daughter falls in love with the hero of the series, Jack Bauer.

After guest appearances in the series Las Vegas he played from 2004 to 2010 in the ABC series Lost as a recurring supporting role again a father figure, namely Dr. Christian Shephard, the father of Dr. Jack Shephard (played by Matthew Fox ) and Claire Littleton (played by Emilie de Ravin ), an alcoholic who dies in mysterious circumstances in Australia and who believe that fans of the series have played an important role in solving the mystery of the island.

More recently, Terry has starred in roles in Law & Order , Steven Spielberg's miniseries Into the West (as Jacob Wheeler in old age) and the ABC series Secrets of a Small Town . In 2007 he appeared in David Fincher's Zodiac as Charles Theiriot.

John Terry currently lives in Park City , Utah . His daughter is the soccer player Hanna Terry .
