Jon Gallagher (born February 23, 1996 in Dundalk ) is an Irish football player who is under contract with Atlanta United in the United States .

Career

Jon Gallagher was born in Dundalk, Ireland. He grew up in Ireland , the United States , Singapore, and England . Between 2008 and 2010 he played for Beachside SC in Connecticut , then for two years for Home United in Singapore. From 2014 he was active for the university team of Notre Dame . For the team, which played under the name Notre Dame Fighting Irish in the Atlantic Coast Conference , Gallagher was the top scorer in 2015, 2016 and 2017. Also best template provider in 2017. For his achievements, Gallagher has been selected in numerous all-star teams. He played a total of four years for the University of South Bend , Indiana and scored 39 goals in 84 games.

At the 2018 MLS SuperDraft , Gallagher was drafted in 14th position by Atlanta United . As a result, he was used in the farm team Atlanta United 2 in the USL Championship .

Gallagher was loaned to Scotland to Aberdeen FC in June 2019 until the end of the year . The loan was later extended for half a year.
