José Sebastián Laboa Gallego (born January 20, 1923 in Pasajes de San Juan , Autonomous Community of Basque Country , Spain , † October 24, 2002 ) was a Roman Catholic Archbishop and diplomat of the Holy See .

Life

Jose Sebastian Laboa Gallego received on 16 April 1949, the sacrament of Holy Orders .

On December 18, 1982 appointed him Pope John Paul II. To Titular Archbishop of Zaraï and ordered him to the apostolic nuncio in Panama . Pope John Paul II donated him episcopal ordination on January 6, 1983 ; Co-consecrators were the Curia Archbishops Eduardo Martínez Somalo , substitute for the State Secretariat , and Duraisamy Simon Lourdusamy , Secretary of the Congregation for the Evangelization of Peoples . On August 21, 1990, John Paul II appointed him Apostolic Nuncio in Paraguay . Laboa Gallego became Apostolic Nuncio in Malta and Apostolic Delegate in Libya on March 18, 1995 . On March 10, 1997 he became apostolic nuncio in Libya.

On June 13, 1998, Pope John Paul II accepted José Sebastián Laboa Gallego's resignation due to reasons of age.
