Joseph Cyrus
Josef Cyrus (born January 22, 1947 in Racibórz (Ratibor), Upper Silesia ; born Józef Cyrus ) is a German film director , cameraman and screenwriter .
Life and work
Josef Cyrus attended the elementary school and the technical school for mechanics in Racibórz . He then worked in the 1966-1971 coal mine Rydułtowy -Anna in Pszów (Pschow) as Steiger . He began studying at the State University for Film, Television and Theater in Łódź ; first with the subject of cameraman (1971–1976) then the faculty of film and television directing (1976–1978).
His film debut in 1976 was the short film Tryptyk (The Triptych ) . From 1978–1986 he worked as a screenwriter and director in the film studio for documentary and feature films in Warsaw . Numerous awards, prizes and honors followed for his documentaries .
On May 19, 1986 he moved to Leverkusen on the Lower Rhine . He is the founder and since 1987 the director of the Josef Cyrus film production in Leverkusen. His film genre are documentaries , shorts and homeland films . With Martin Berger , Kazimierz Kutz and Peter Dudzik , he is one of the filmmakers who come from Upper Silesia .
