Joseph Griesser
Josef Griesser , also known as Josef Grießer , (* 1937 in Tyrol ; † January 19, 2022 ) was an Austrian actor .
Life
Griesser came from Tyrol. As a theater actor , he had numerous engagements at various theaters and stages in Tyrol between 1960 and 2014. He played i.a. at the Tiroler Volksbühne Blaas in Innsbruck; In 1984 he appeared there in the play Endstation by Eva Ebner . From 2001 to 2004 he had a guest contract at the Tiroler Landestheater Innsbruck . In 2002 he played the servant Panetone in the Shakespearean comedy Much Ado About Nothing in a production directed by Klaus Rohrmoser .
Grießer also worked for film and television; He was very often used in films and series with a southern German , Upper Bavarian or Austrian background. He had his first television appearances in the 1980s; in the Austrian miniseries The Fifth Season (1983) by Reinhard Schwabenitzky , he played a pawn.
In the Austrian television film Die wilde Frau (1987), for which the Austrian author Felix Mitterer wrote the screenplay, Griesser embodied the lumberjack Jogg, who, far from civilization, works together with four other lumberjacks in the forest and there a Salige , a wild woman, who takes care of the household for him and the other men and who is supposed to fulfill their sexual needs.
Between 1989 and 1994, in a total of four parts, Griesser played the South Tyrolean mountain farmer Hans Oberhollenzer, whose family has lived on the Berghof for over 500 years, in the multi-part television film Selling Home by director Karin Brandauer , which tells the story of the South Tyrolean farming families Tschurtschenthaler, Oberhollenzer and Rabensteiner and who decides to stay in his South Tyrolean home after the German-Italian resettlement agreement.
In the four-part Austrian television film Die Piefke-Saga (1990; 1993) he played a gendarme. In the Austrian feature film Tunnelkind (1990) he played the male lead as a Czech land surveyor Roman.
From the mid-1990s, Griesser, who had initially worked in demanding productions of the "New Austrian Cinema", increasingly turned to the popular television genre. Episode roles in the series Kommissar Rex (1995), Stockinger (1996; as Altbauer Triftschwabel), Schlosshotel Orth (1997), Die Neue - Eine Frau mit Kaliber (1999; as a priest alongside Doris Schretzmayer ) and Kaisermühlen Blues ( 1999).
He then took part in supporting roles in several Austrian homeland films produced for television, e.g. in two shallow Hansi Hinterseer television films, such as Where the mountains are (2000; as Hansi's father, Franz Sandgruber senior) and Where friendship counts (2007, as Gustl senior). He also had a supporting role in the television film Dangerous Feelings (2003) starring Katharina Böhm ; he played the village policeman Huber.
In the Simmel remake God protects the lovers (2008) he was Mr. Wallner. In the German-Austrian television film The Midwife - On Life and Death (2010) he played the old Bachler farmer. In the German-Austrian cinema film Das sinstere Tal (2014), he embodied the corrupt village innkeeper, alongside Johanna Bittenbinder as the landlady, who is being cruelly punished by the young Greider ( Sam Riley ).
Griesser lived in Innsbruck . He passed away on January 19, 2022 at the age of 85.
