Julius Sandmeier
Julius Sandmeier (born November 27, 1881 in Munich , † October 19, 1941 in Rome ) was a German writer and literary translator . He was also a director , cameraman and producer .
Life
Julius Sandmeier married Mathilde Angermann in 1910. At the end of the First World War, Sandmeier worked for a year in the German embassy in Kristiana as head of the press office.
Julius Sandmeier was one of the most prolific translators of fiction from Norwegian , Danish and Swedish into German in the 1920s and 1930s . He became particularly well-known for his translations of the works of the Norwegian Nobel Prize winners Knut Hamsun and Sigrid Undset , often in collaboration with Sophie Angermann .
