Murisier, a cousin of ski racer William Besse , took part in FIS races and national junior races from November 2007 . His first significant success was winning the slalom gold medal at the European Youth Olympic Festival in Szczyrk, Poland , in February 2009 . A month later he surprised at the Swiss Championships in St. Moritz with third place in the Super-G , leaving well-known athletes like Didier Défago and Carlo Janka behind. At the end of the season the first victory in an FIS race followed in Sestriere .
After Murisier had been cared for by former ski racer Steve Locher at the regional performance center in Brig for two and a half years , he was promoted to the Swiss-Ski C squad at the beginning of the 2009/10 season. He was used in the European Cup and was the best of his year in the slalom and Super-G disciplines. On January 10, 2010, two days after his 18th birthday, Murisier started a World Cup race for the first time : In the Adelboden slalom , he finished 31st with the high start number 74; He only missed the second run and possible World Cup points by five hundredths of a second. At the Swiss Championships in 2010 he won the giant slalom (at the same time as Ami Oreiller ) and the super combined.
On December 12th, 2010 Murisier finished 8th in the slalom of Val-d'Isère and got his first World Cup points. He achieved his first podium in the European Cup on January 18, 2011 when he was third in the Zuoz giant slalom . At the Junior World Championships 2011 in Crans-Montana , he won the silver medal in slalom and in the combined classification (downhill, giant slalom, slalom) as well as the bronze medal in the Super-G.
In September 2011 Murisier was seriously injured in the preparation phase for the 2011/12 season and tore the anterior cruciate ligament of his right knee while playing football. Due to the injury, he was out for the entire 2011/12 season. In August 2012 he again suffered a rupture of the same cruciate ligament during slalom training, which is why he had to take a break in the 2012/13 season.
After a cautious start to the season, Murisier finished 9th in the super combination of Kitzbühel with the high starting number 62 on January 26, 2014 . At the end of the 2014/15 season, he won the team competition in front of Sweden and Austria, which is only part of the Nations Cup , in the Swiss team on March 20, 2015 at the finals in Méribel . This scenario was repeated at the final in St. Moritz on March 18, 2016, with Germany and Sweden taking the places.
