Kâhta ( Kurdish colic ) is a city and a district in the Turkish province of Adıyaman in southeastern Anatolia . The city of Kâhta is located in the center of the district and on the banks of the Ataturk Dam and consists of 17 mahalls . It unites around 64 percent of the district's population and is the second largest city in the province. The current city of Kâhta is not the ancient Kâhta. The original Kâhta is located in today's village of Kocahisar (Eski Kâhta), where the fortress of Kâhta ( Arsameia am Nymphaios ) also stands. After the founding of the republic in 1923, the administration moved south to the village of Kolik, which became today's Kâhta.

In terms of area and population, Kâhta County is the second largest in the province. It is located in the east of the province and borders the provinces of Malatya in the north and Şanlıurfa in the south. In addition to the district town of Kâhta, it also consists of two small towns / communities ( Belediye ): Akıncılar (1,792) and Bölükyayla (2,225 pop .). There are also 102 villages ( Köy ) with an average of 395 inhabitants. Six villages have over 1,000 inhabitants, Menzil (1,911) and Erikli (1,703) are the largest.
