Kadmos - Tyrann von Thebes (Original title: Arrivano i titani ; International title: My son, the hero ) is an Italian adventure comedy based on elements of Greek mythology , directed by Duccio Tessari in 1962. German premiere was on April 5, 1963.

action

Zeus frees Crios, a titan , from the underworld in order to be able to fight the god-king Kadmos , who has crowned himself. At court Crios falls for the princess Antiope, who is held captive by Kadmos; for the oracle predicts death that Antiope should fall in love. Equipped with Pluto's camouflage helmet - he went back to the underworld especially to steal it - Crios sets out to free himself; Antiope, however, has meanwhile been taken to an island and is guarded by Medusa . In spite of this, Crios was able to free her, albeit with severe wounds; a freedom of short duration. Zeus decides to send the other titans who, allied with the forces of nature, storm the palace of Kadmos, kill himself and free Antiope.

criticism

"A parody that tries, with moderate success, to parody something that is parody in itself."

- Dictionary of fantasy films

The lexicon of international films sees the film as "an enjoyable pastiche of the antique films of the Cinecittà" .
