Blasberg is a communications specialist and completed an apprenticeship as a publishing clerk. From 1982 to 1989 he was employed by the Kölnische Rundschau , from 1989/90 to the Prince . Then Blasberg went to TV, worked in sales at the advertising time marketer IPA plus, now IP Deutschland , changed in 1992 as sales manager to Media Gruppe München, now SevenOne Media , and from 1993–97 remained as marketing manager and program director at the then newly founded DSF, now Sport1 . After an interlude as a freelance television producer in 1997/98, Blasberg was marketing director at the private broadcasters Kabel eins (1999–2002) and ProSieben (2003/04). In 2005 he became Head of Sales and Marketing at the Munich private broadcaster Tele 5 of the Tele München Group , which was re-established in 2002. After the departure of the managing director Ludwig Bauer, Blasberg took up his position on January 1, 2008.

In his new role, Blasberg carried out a realignment of the station away from the pure play-back channel for feature films and series from the TMG rights pool and brought a number of in-house productions into the program that brought Tele 5 attention and media awards (including Höggschde Concentration , Hans Sarpei - Das T stands for coach , Oliver Kalkofes Nichtgedanken , the worst films of all time , Walulis sieht fern , Christian Ulmen Who wants to fuck my girlfriend? , Benjamin of Stuckrad-Barre , Kalkofes Mattscheibe Rekalked, Playlist - sound of my Life and Eye TV - The crazy puppet stations , The wiser one tips over by Hugo Egon Balder ). Blasberg himself was nominated for a special award of the Grimme Prize 2014 for his “courageous and original programming” . In the podcast "Zwei Herren mit Hund" Kai Blasberg and "Mr. Media" Thomas Koch take a personal, critically ironic look at the world of advertising and media agencies and also criticize content providers such as YouTube and e-commerce providers such as Amazon.

The claims “Right in the middle, instead of just being there” ( DSF ), “We love to entertain you” ( Pro Sieben ) and “Different is better” ( Tele 5 ) as well as “The best films of all time” ( Kabel 1 ) work Work back.

In 2018, in protest against censorship on YouTube , Kai Blasberg announced the withdrawal of Tele5 from the world's largest video platform. The stumbling block was the portrayal of a female nipple in a movie trailer. A warning from YouTube was issued immediately. That is "a slap in the face of freedom of expression". Under the hashtag Youxit, Blasberg left a music video in which the video channel is insulted as "a whore".

Blasberg is considered to be the inventor of the football regulars table " Doppelpass ", a football talk show that he initiated and was first broadcast on June 17, 1995 as a pilot at Munich Airport.
