The Kaiserkopf is a 2171 m above sea level. A. high mountain in the Kaiser Mountains in Tyrol without a summit cross. The summit offers a good view of the Sölllandl , the views of the Ellmauer Halt , the Treffauer , the Tuxeck and the SkiWelt Wilder Kaiser - Brixental as well as the Oberer Scharlinger Boden down and over to the Ostkaiser are particularly attractive . The mountain is very rarely climbed.
location
The Kaiserkopf rises in the western part of the Wilder Kaiser in the connecting ridge between the Treffauer in the west (West Emperor) and the Ellmauer Halt in the east (Central Emperor ). It is characterized by its striking east face, which drops steeply around 300 meters to the Hochgrubachkar. On the west side, the mountain is much flatter and has mostly grassy areas and rugged terrain, with the grassy ridge extending south to the saddle (Hirschanger) towards Treffauer. To the north, the mountain forms a brittle, rocky ridge towards Ellmauer Halt, which leads down to the Rote-Rinn-Scharte . The summit belongs to the municipality of Ellmau .
Routes
There is no marked route or trail leading to the Kaiserkopf, but the difficulties of an ascent via the normal route are not too great, but an ascent always requires a sense of direction, a head for heights, surefootedness and experience in alpine terrain, especially in steep grass.
The bases are the Gruttenhütte , the Anton-Karg-Haus and the Hans-Berger-Haus (Kaisertalhaus).
Normal way
The normal route to the summit begins about 100 meters west (descending) below the Rote-Rinn-Scharte, branching off to the left from the marked trail that leads from the saddle down over the Obere Scharliger Boden to the Hans-Berger-Haus . You can get to the entrance either via this marked path from Kaisertal or Hans-Berger-Haus, duration around 3 hours. Alternatively, you can also climb from the Wochenbrunneralm via the Gruttenhütte and the normal route to the Ellmauer Halt (Gamsängersteig), where you then turn left onto the marked and secured path to the Rote-Rinn-Scharte at almost 2,100 meters after the 74 iron bars of the Yellow Jägerwand and from there follow the route downwards for around 100 m until the entrance is reached a little above the notch at the rocky point where the rubble channel divides; Time required around 3 hours. From the entrance you cross the channel to the south and then climb up over sloping rock slabs until you reach a brownish band. Over this further around a rib and over grasschrofen up the northwest flank to the grassy saddle on the ridge (Hirschanger). From there over the steep meadow and Schrofen up to the summit with the summit book. Very dangerous when wet. Difficulty: I-II, a lot of walking terrain. Time required about 30 minutes from entry. For a more detailed description of the approaches to the entrance, see the route descriptions under Ellmauer Halt .
Climbing routes
Due to its fragile rock, the Kaiserkopf is not a mountain that attracts climbers. Nevertheless, there are some routes from the II. Level of difficulty (e.g. Nordgrat, II), the entrances of which can be reached via the Hochgrubachkar or the Rote-Rinn-Scharte (you can get there via the marked normal route to Ellmauer Halt).
