As California coast is called the Pacific - coast of the State of California on the West Coast of the United States . It is 1351.85 kilometers long and rocky or sandy. It borders to the north on the oregonische coast and in the south to the Mexican coast in Baja California in Mexico ( Baja California ). The coast connects directly to the south of the Mexican Gulf of California .

In southern California there are mostly sandy beaches , for example in Malibu .

The Golden Gate Bridge with Fort Point

The most striking structure is the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco Bay .

West of San Diego is the second largest base of the United States Navy : Naval Base Coronado . The conventional submarine fleet for the Pacific is also located here.
