Kampf der Künste ("KdK") is a label of 10 Punkt GmbH with headquarters in Hamburg and is the largest provider of poetry slams and stage literature in Europe . The management consists of Jan-Oliver Lange and Elisa Fischer.

Kampf der Künste was founded in 2005 by Jan-Oliver Lange and Michel Abdollahi .

Events

The first regular series of events organized by Kampf der Künste took place in the Zeise cinemas in Hamburg , where poetry slams were held as a late night program. This series continues to this day and culminates in the annual finale of the respective monthly winners, which has traditionally been held in the Deutsches Schauspielhaus , which has been sold out with almost 1,200 spectators since 2007 .

The Kampf der Künste program currently includes over 150 poetry slams, slam shows and short film and singer-songwriter competitions each year . The focus is on Hamburg, there are regular guest performances in Lüneburg , Stralsund , Stade , Greifswald , Rostock , Itzehoe and Frankfurt (Oder), among others . In 2011, the Kampf der Künste team organized the German-language poetry slam championship together with colleagues from Hamburg's slam organizers, with a final in front of over 4,000 spectators in the Barclaycard Arena . In 2015, this record was broken with the world's largest poetry slam on the Hamburg trotting track in front of around 5000 visitors, also from Kampf der Künste in cooperation with FKP Scorpio . In cooperation with Karsten Jahnke , slams were held in Hamburg's Stadtpark in 2017 and 2019. The Elbphilharmonie has also been regularly hosted with slam events since 2018. The founder Jan-Oliver Lange also invented the “Best of Poetry Slam” format, in which a limited number of selected artists are given more time than is specified in the original rules. Other special formats include jazz slams and the word monster slam, which is aimed specifically at children. A slam with simultaneous translation into sign language also took place in the Ernst-Deutsch-Theater in 2019 . Until 2014 the events were organized by the Talent Kultur association, from 2015 to 2019 the newly founded Slam Kultur gGmbH was the bearer of the label, and since 2019 the 10 Punkt GmbH.

Together with the MS Dockville team from Kopf & Steine ​​GmbH, Kampf der Künste has been organizing the annual poetry slam festival "Slamville" on the MS Artville site since 2016. In addition to slam poets, musicians and comedians perform there, such as Die Höchst Eisenbahn , Antje Schomaker , Juse Ju , Heinz Strunk , Kathrin Weßling , Torsten Sträter , Sophie Passmann and Hazel Brugger . In 2019, a total of 85,000 people attended Clash of the Arts events.

Others

In 2014 and 2017, Kampf der Künste published the two anthologies "Best of Poetry Slam # 1" and "Best of Poetry Slam # 2" with texts by successful slam poets and accompanying illustrations. In addition, the YouTube channel "Poetry Slam TV" is provided with videos from events organized by Kampf der Künste as well as in-house productions ("local round"). The channel currently has around 175,000 subscribers, making it the largest of its kind in German-speaking countries. Online streams, for example in co-production with the social TV broadcaster ONE, are also carried out. Since June 2020 there has been a monthly "Stream of Poetry Slam", moderated by Paulina Behrendt and Johannes Floehr . There is a changing line-up of slam poets and viewers can vote live on the stream who wins. In addition, the podcast "Slam auf's Ohr" was launched in 2020 , with talk elements, featured articles and texts. Voting will take place following the episodes on the Kampf der Künste homepage. Other collaborations also took place with Die Zeit , Hinz & Kunzt , Viva con Agua , Junge Symphoniker Hamburg, Symphoniker Hamburg , Dialog im Dunkeln and the Bucerius Kunst Forum .

In 2017, the workshop project #lautsprecher for pupils in Hamburg district schools was founded. In the workshops carried out by Kampf der Künste, which are primarily aimed at schools with a strong need for support, creative writing is combined with performance exercises, and there is also a final presentation of the texts.
