Karin von Schweder-Schreiner

Karin von Schweder-Schreiner ( pseudonym : Karin Schreiner ; born October 22, 1943 in Posen ) is a German translator .

Life

Karin von Schweder Joiner completed a study of the Portuguese and French on "foreign and Dolmetscherinstitut" in Germersheim , today Department of translation, linguistics and cultural studies , FB 6, the University of Mainz . She completed her training in 1969 with the degree of a qualified translator. She then worked as a foreign language correspondent. She has been a freelance translator since 1978 . After stays in Sweden , France , Portugal and from 1981 to 1984 in Brazil , she now lives in Hamburg .

Karin von Schweder-Schreiner translates works of fiction from Portuguese , English , French and Swedish into German ; the focus of her work is on the translation of Brazilian authors.

Karin von Schweder-Schreiner is a member of the Association of German-Language Translators of Literary and Scientific Works , VdÜ. In addition to several grants , she received a Hamburg Prize for Literature and Literary Translations in 1990 and 2005 , the International Translation Prize of the Brazilian Ministry of Culture in 1994 and the Albatros Literature Prize of the Günter Grass Foundation in 2006 .
