Karl-Heinz Ducke (born November 6, 1941 in Langenau , Sudetenland ; † July 12, 2011 in Jena , Thuringia ) was a German Catholic clergyman, moral theologian and civil rights activist .

Live and act

Duck grew after the expulsion of the family from the Sudetenland up in the GDR. From 1961 to 1967 he studied Catholic theology in Erfurt and Neuzelle . On 25 June 1967, the Erfurt he donated Bishop Hugo Aufderbeck the priesthood .

Until 1970 Ducke worked as a chaplain in Jena. He then went on to study philosophy and theology in Erfurt, the only training facility for Catholic priests in the GDR, as an assistant and, from 1975, as Regens . Here he was also in 1975 with a thesis on the moral teaching of Hadrian VI. to the Dr. theol. PhD . In 1986 he moved to the Episcopal Ordinariate , where he took over the management of adult pastoral care in the pastoral office.

Pope John Paul II awarded him the honorary title of Chaplain of His Holiness ( Monsignor ) on May 30, 1988 .

In 1988/1989 Ducke was a delegate of the Ecumenical Assembly in the GDR . As representatives of the Berlin Conference of Bishops Karl-Heinz Ducke moderated in the turnaround time with Martin Ziegler and Martin Lange the Round Table of the GDR . For his commitment, Ducke received the Order of Merit of the State of Berlin on October 1, 1991 and the Federal Cross of Merit 1st Class on October 8, 1995 .

From September 1, 1991 to July 31, 2010, Ducke was pastor of St. Johann Baptist in Jena . He represented the Catholic Church in the Broadcasting Council of the Central German Radio and was chairman of the television and personnel committee of this body. In addition, since 1998 he was a non-resident cathedral chapter member of the cathedral chapter at Erfurt Cathedral St. Marien in the diocese of Erfurt .

Karl-Heinz Ducke died on July 12, 2011 at the Jena University Hospital . After the Requiem , celebrated by Bishop Joachim Wanke in St. Johannes Baptist (Jena) , he was buried on July 19 in the North Cemetery (Jena) .
