Karl-Heinz Höne

Karl-Heinz Höne (born May 16, 1924 in Osnabrück ; † February 13, 2008 in Berlin ) was a German cantor , church music director , lecturer and composer .

life and work

From 1940 to 1942 Höne was a student at the Catholic University for Church Music St. Gregorius in Aachen with the main subjects piano and cello . In 1942 he took over the management of the Aachen Madrigal Circle. From 1943 to 1944 he studied for two semesters at the Cologne University of Music . Karl-Heinz Höne interrupted his studies when he was called up for military service and was taken prisoner. In 1946 he resumed his studies with the main subjects composition with Philipp Jarnach and conducting with Günter Wand . At the same time he founded the Aachen Chamber Choir. From 1947 to 1949 he was also a solo repetitor at the theater in Aachen . In 1950 he passed the church music exam at the Folkwang School in Essen .

From 1951 to 1962 he worked as a church musician in Krefeld , and from 1954 as conductor of the choir and chamber orchestra at the Collegium musicum. From 1957 to 1959 he studied composition with Rudolf Petzold with the completion of the artistic maturity examination at the Musikhochschule Köln. In 1960 Höne completed an internship with Herbert von Karajan in Berlin . From 1963 to 1965 he worked as an organist and choir director in Aachen, and also as conductor of the municipal orchestral association in Eschweiler .

In 1965 he became cantor and church music director at the Johannes Church in Osnabrück . In addition, he was a lecturer at the municipal conservatory in Osnabrück, later five years music teacher at a grammar school in Osnabrück and most recently as a lecturer for organ playing , theory and choral conducting at the Episcopal Church Music Seminar in Osnabrück. He was one of the initiators of the Osnabrück Church Music Days founded in 1979. In 1986, Höne retired and worked as a freelance composer. He died on February 13, 2008 in Berlin.

Works

Hönes œuvre includes solo songs , piano, harpsichord and organ music , masses , cantatas , chamber music , orchestral compositions and a cello concert.

His works have been performed in Germany , France , England , America and Poland . His songs and chamber music were broadcast by WDR and SDR .
