The Karl-Ludwig-Haus (also Carl-Ludwig-Haus ) is a refuge of the ÖTK and is located on the high plateau of the Rax at 1804  m above sea level. A. in the federal state of Styria , about 1 km west of the border with Lower Austria .

The Karl-Ludwig-Haus is about 1.1 km east of the Heukuppe ( 2007  m ), the highest elevation of the Rax, or about 1.9 km northwest of the Preiner Gscheid .

The first hut was built in 1876 and 1877 and named after Archduke Karl Ludwig . The hut was renovated and modernized from 2010 to 2011. The modernized hut is run as a certified organic farm .

• Preiner Gscheid - Reisstaler Steig - various trails through the Raxenmäuer ( Raxenmäuersteig , Martinsteig , Gretchensteig ) - Karl-Ludwig-Haus, walking time approx. 2 to 2½ hours depending on the ascent.
