- ∗Place name in Schwarzau: Rax Plateau
history
The Talung appears as early as 1314 as in the Rachsen , in 1327 as vallis (aqua) Rehisen . It forms the original version of the name here, its inhabitants were probably called the Rehsener , the Rax itself appears as their Rechsener / Rächsner albm 1345. The name is traced back to a Middle High German Rahsen (e) , to Old High German rahhisön 'clear your throat, spit violently', related to racho 'throat', the meaning probably related to the water flow .
In 1824 the place is mentioned as a border town between the Duchy of Styria and Austria with 24 houses, in 1885 with 23 houses and 208 inhabitants.
