Karl Christian Galster (born January 22, 1818 in Herford , † February 18, 1882 in Hameln ) was a Prussian major general and artillery department of the Imperial Admiralty .

He was the son of the Privy Councilor and Public Prosecutor in Herford Karl Galster († August 8, 1866 in Herford) and his wife Amalie, born von Carnap († November 16, 1842 in Herford).

Military career

Galster attended high school in his hometown and joined the 4th Artillery Brigade of the Prussian Army as a gunner on October 1, 1836 . He graduated from the United Artillery and Engineering School from October 1837 to the end of September 1840 and was promoted to second lieutenant on September 29, 1839 . Galster served with the 8th Battery until September 30, 1844 and was sent to the General War School for further training until mid-July 1847 . After his return he worked in the 2nd battery.

On March 20, 1849, Galster was commanded as an adjutant to the Stettin naval command, promoted to prime lieutenant on April 9, 1850 , and with the formation of the sea ​​battalion on May 13, 1852 assigned to the sea artillery department. Galster married Charlotte Pauline Johanne, née Schulze (born August 1, 1824 in Herford, † March 8, 1900 in Kiel) in Koblenz on February 3, 1850 . The marriage had three children:
