Karl Heinrich Grünberg (born July 16, 1875 in Stralsund ; † November 25, 1932 in Bonn ) was a German ENT doctor and university professor.

Life

Grünberg attended the Stralsund high school . After graduating from high school, he began to study medicine at the University of Jena in 1893 . In the same year he became active in the Corps Thuringia Jena . Honored and inactivated as a senior , he moved to the Albert Ludwig University of Freiburg , the Ludwig Maximilians University of Munich and the Royal University of Greifswald . In 1897 he was promoted to Dr. med. PhD. In 1899 he went to the Charité's pathology department as a volunteer . From 1900 he was an assistant doctor in internal medicine in Freiburg and from 1903 with Heinrich Helferich in Kiel surgery.

Rostock

In 1906 he went to Otto Körner as an assistant doctor at the home university of Rostock to train as an ENT specialist . Allegedly he was the only one who completed his habilitation in 1908 at Körner for otology , rhinology and laryngology . Especially during his time in Rostock, he dealt in numerous publications with the histology and pathology of the ear, with the physiology of hearing and with the clinic of tuberculosis . After six years as a private lecturer , he was appointed adjunct professor in 1914 . During the First World War he took over the reserve hospital in Halberstadt . During the Weimar Republic , he was appointed senior physician in Rostock in 1920 and an associate professor in 1921. He was particularly concerned with the pathological anatomy of the inner ear .

Bonn

In 1924 he followed the call of the Rheinische Friedrich-Wilhelms-Universität Bonn to her chair for ear, nose and throat medicine . Even seriously ill with tuberculosis, he was only able to fully and unhindered fulfill his duties as a representative in Bonn in the first few years. Nevertheless, colleagues and students showed him unreserved respect and trust. For the academic year 1930/31 - shortly before his death - the faculty elected him dean . Gerhard Theissing was his only habilitation candidate in Bonn . Grünberg died in office at the age of 57. He was temporarily followed by M. Thielemann, then in 1934 Theodor Nühsmann (1885–1962).
