Karl Ludwig Heinrich Gottlob von Pritzelwitz (born May 4, 1768 in Wittendorf , † April 1, 1839 in Berlin ) was a Prussian major general .

Life

origin

He was the son of the district administrator of Rosenberg Caspar Joachim von Pritzelwitz (1728-1812) and his wife Eva Maria Therese, nee Freiin von Stechow (1744-1822) from the Plawnowitz house.

Military career

Pritzelwitz first visited the cadet house in Berlin and was employed on April 11, 1784 as a private corporal in the infantry regiment "von Bornstedt" of the Prussian army . There he was promoted to ensign on March 29, 1787 and to second lieutenant on February 17, 1789 . As such, he took part in the suppression of the uprising in Poland in 1794/95 and during this time acted as an adjutant to General von Kunheim . With the promotion to staff captain , Pritzelwitz was transferred to the infantry regiment "von Braunschweig" in Halberstadt on March 24, 1801 . With this regiment he took part in the Battle of Auerstedt during the Fourth Coalition War against Napoleon Bonaparte , was wounded in the process and initially made inactive after the defeat of Prussia.

Due to his bravery shown in the battle of Auerstedt, Pritzelwitz was ordered by King Friedrich Wilhelm III. Re-employed in the army and came on August 31, 1808 as a captain with a patent from October 14, 1806 to the regiment of the guard on foot . On December 26, 1808, he was promoted to major with a patent from November 13, 1808. On December 15, 1810, Pritzelwitz was appointed director of the Secret War Chancellery. He held this post for the next 28 years, advanced to colonel and, on the occasion of his 50th anniversary of service, received the Order of the Red Eagle, 2nd class with oak leaves. While retaining his full salary, Pritzelwitz was granted his farewell on March 18, 1839 with the character of major general .

After his death he was buried in the Invalidenfriedhof in Berlin. The tomb has not been preserved.

Pritzelwitz married Henriette Luise Friederike von Schladen (1773-1859) on November 20, 1792 in Berlin . The following children were born from the marriage:
