Georg Ludwig Friedrich Freiherr von Dalwig (born November 3, 1762 in Pitschen , † March 14, 1832 in Brieg ) was a Prussian major general and heir to Miechowitz .

Life

His parents were the general of the cavalry Georg Ludwig von Dalwig (1725–1796) and his wife Antonie, née von Stechow († 1764).

Military career

Dalwig came in 1774 as a Junker in the Küsassierregiment "von Dalwig" , whose boss was his father. On October 26, 1778, he was transferred to the "von Thun" dragoon regiment as an ensign . In the War of the Bavarian Succession in 1778/79 he was wounded in a battle near Nachod, but then fought near Möckern and Jägersdorf. On August 3, 1783, Dalwig became second lieutenant and on November 24, 1789, he joined the "von Groeling" hussar regiment as a staff officer . There he became captain and squadron chief on July 30, 1792 . In the First Coalition War , Dalwig fought in the cannonade of Valmy , the siege of Verdun and the battles near Kaiserslautern and Pirmasens , and also in the battles near Hoch, Guntersblum, Deidesheim, Denningen and Edinghofen. He was wounded at Guntersblum. On September 16, 1792 Dalwig received the order Pour le Mérite and on December 23, 1792 he was promoted to major .

After the war, Dalwig was transferred to the newly established "von Rouquette" dragoon regiment on December 15, 1801 . He was born on May 23, 1802 Lieutenant Colonel and on May 26, 1804 , Colonel . During the Fourth Coalition War , Dalwig was seriously wounded in the Battle of Prussian Eylau and captured. On November 25, 1807 he was put on half pay.

Dalwig was considered a great horse connoisseur and so after the war he was used from September 1, 1809 to buy horses for the cavalry ( Remonte ). For this he received a salary of 1900 thalers and four rations. On November 1, 1810 he became Major General with patent of 3 November 1810. Even before the wars of liberation he received on 1 February 1813 his farewell 1200 Taler board . In 1814 he received the Order of the Red Eagle III. Class. He died in Brzeg on March 14, 1832.

He was married three times. On January 30, 1786, he married Helene Sophie Philippine von Blankensee (* 1769) in Trossin . The marriage was divorced in 1792. Dalwig then married on April 29, 1798 on Tarnowitz Johanne Charlotte Henriette von Gaffron (* October 24, 1779; † February 16, 1804). The couple had the following children:

After her death in February 1804, he married Adelheid Sylvia Ernestine von Frankenberg (* July 17, 1784 - May 9, 1873), a daughter of Major General Sylvius von Frankenberg and Proschlitz, on June 26, 1804 in Königsberg . The couple had the following children:
