Karl Philipp Joseph von Münster also Karl Philipp Jonas Joseph von Münster or Karl Philipp Ignatz Josef von Münster (* July 19, 1747 ; † 1809 ), was a Prussian colonel and head of a free formation in the War of the Bavarian Succession .

Life

origin

Karl Philipp Joseph came from the Franconian noble family of the Barons of Münster . His parents were the heir to Euerbach and Burg Lauer , Nieder Wehrn and Pfändhausen , as well as the Fulda secret council and conference minister Johann Philipp Otto Carl Freiherr von Münster (* 1719) and Maria Adelheit Schütz von Holtzhausen .

Career

Munster was first canon to Würzburg had, as such, on 10 July 1773 , resigned and then was Bamberger Chamberlain , privy councilor and bailiff to Forchheim . He may have held the latter position from 1774 to 1803. During this time, or at least in 1792, he also owned his father's inheritance.

He then entered Prussian service with the rank of colonel in 1776 and recruited a free regiment in Soest at the outbreak of the War of the Bavarian Succession . With this he joined the Prussian army in Silesia . During the war he and his regiment were used as an outpost . After the peace agreement , his regiment was reduced and Münster withdrew to his goods Lisberg , Neuhaus and Zettmannsdorf .

family

Münster married Sofie Freiin von Stein zu Nordheim in 1783 . At least the son, the Saxon chamberlain and major à la suite , Dietrich Christian Wilhelm Freiherr von Münster (1798–1866) emerged from the marriage.
