Life

The son of the royal councilor and cabinet secretary of Prince Karl of Bavaria, Franz Roman Eheberg, and Therese, b. von Stürzer, passed the Abitur examination at the Maximiliansgymnasium in Munich in 1873 . He first studied law and passed the first state examination in law. During his studies he became a member of the Academic Choral Society in Munich . From 1877 he devoted himself to economic, philosophical and legal history studies at the Kaiser Wilhelms University of Strasbourg . Gustav von Schmoller and Georg Friedrich Knapp gained a decisive influence on his further scientific development. 1878 Dr. rer. pole. doctorate , habilitated in 1880 at the Julius Maximilians University of Würzburg . In 1882 he was appointed associate professor for economics, finance and statistics at the Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen and in 1884 he was appointed full professor . In 1926 Eheberg retired and then settled in Munich.

Eheberg was a strong representative of the younger historical school of economics. He wrote historical studies on constitutional, administrative, and economic history, as well as empirical contemporary studies, primarily on questions of agriculture and finance. Over the years he focused more and more on finance. With sustained success, Eheberg strove for clarity of terms in finance. In this way he brought order into the diversity of financial and economic phenomena and became the teacher of many financial practitioners at home and abroad.

In 1882 Eheberg married the teacher's daughter Aline Schweppenheuser from Strasbourg. The marriage came from the son Franz (1883–1956) - he was State Archives Director in Munich, and the daughter Karoline (* 1894).

Eheberg served as President of the District Council of Middle Franconia from 1893 to 1918 (interrupted for one year in 1906 due to illness) .
