Karsten Stoye
Karsten Stoye (* 23. May 1962 ) is a Major General of the Air Force of the Armed Forces and Chief of Staff at the NATO Allied Air Command , Ramstein Air Base , Germany.

After joining the Bundeswehr as a conscript in the army, Stoye was trained as an officer at the Air Force officers' school. He then studied economics at the University of the Federal Armed Forces in Hamburg . After successfully completing his studies, Stoye was trained as a jet pilot at Sheppard Air Force Base . He was then retrained for the Alpha Jet aircraft type and was an operational pilot in Fighter Bomber Wing 43 in Oldenburg. After retraining to the Panavia Tornado model , he was transferred to the Reconnaissance Squadron 51 "Immelmann" as an operational pilot and also took part in missions over the former Yugoslavia as part of UNPROFOR and IFOR in this function .
Service as a staff officer
From 1996 to 1998 he completed the general staff training course at the command academy of the German Armed Forces in Hamburg, after which he worked as a division manager for exercises at NATO's Combined Air Operations Center (CAOC) 4 in Meßstetten. During the Kosovo conflict, Stoye was assigned to the NATO command post in Vicenza as a planning staff officer for the air operations. In 2000 he took over command of the flying group of Fighter Bomber Squadron 31 in Nörvenich until the end of 2003. In the Air Force's command staff , he was then deputy head of department Fü L III 3 ( basic matters, deployment and operational management, air forces) followed by a position as a department head (basics Mission and Operation Basics Air Force). From 2006 he was an advisor to the Parliamentary State Secretary in the Federal Ministry of Defense in Berlin . At the end of 2007 he took over command of the reconnaissance squadron 51 "Immelmann" in Kropp near Schleswig , during this time soldiers of the squadron were also deployed within the framework of ISAF in Afghanistan and Stoye squadron commodors of the Mazar-e Sharif squadron . From 2010 to 2012 he was head of the division for air force planning and operations in the Federal Ministry of Defense, then head of division in the planning division as the person responsible for reconnaissance and surveillance in the armed forces .
Service as a general
In 2013, Stoye was appointed Brigadier General, Deputy Commander NATO Deployable Air Command and Control Center in Poggio Renatico , Italy . From June 2015 to July 2018 Stoye was commander of NATO - E-3 AWACS -Verbandes on the air base in Geilenkirchen . On July 1, 2018, he moved to the post of Deputy Chief of Staff Operations at NATO Allied Air Command, Ramstein Air Base, Germany. On March 1, 2019, Stoye moved to the post of Chief of Staff, while being promoted to major general.
Karsten Stoye has completed more than 3000 flight hours and 70 operational flights as a pilot.
