Kathryn Leigh Scott (* 29. January 1943 , according to other sources in 1945 in Robbinsdale , Minnesota as Marlene Kringstad ) is an American actress , author and film producer who for her roles in the television series Dark Shadows is known.

Life

Scott was born Marlene Kringstad and the daughter of Ole and Hilda Kringstad, both of Norwegian descent. She grew up on a farm in Robbinsdale , Minnesota and later attended the American Academy of Dramatic Arts. After arriving in New York City , she first worked as a Playboy Bunny and changed her name to Kathryn Leigh Scott.

She is known for her roles as Josette duPres, Rachel Drummond, Lady Hampshire or Kitty Soames, and Maggie Evans or Collins in the television series Dark Shadows , which she played from 1966 to 1970. In September 1970 she left the series to move to France with her friend the photographer Ben Martin, whom she married that same year . In addition to numerous guest appearances on television series, she also had recurring roles as Annie Riordan in Philip Marlowe, Private Eye (1983) and Bunny Harvard in Dallas (1989). Films she starred in include The Vampire Castle (1970), The Great Gatsby (1974), Providence (1977), Witches' Brew (1980), The Assassination (1987), Doctor Mabuse (2013) and The Rising Light (2013).

Scott founded Pomegranate Press in 1986 and wrote several books himself. In her second marriage, she was married to the future editor of Los Angeles magazine Geoff Miller from 1991 to April 2011 .
