Katrien Verstuyft (born July 21, 1982 in Antwerp ) is a Belgian triathlete , multiple Belgian triathlon champion (sprint, Olympic distance and team competition), member of the national team and Olympic athlete (2016).
Career
Kathrin Verstuyft has been running triathlons since 2008 and competes for the Antwerp triathlon club Atriac .
In 2009, Verstuyft also took part in the French club championship series Lyonnaise des Eaux and competed for Charleville Tri Ardennes . In Tours / Tourangeaux (July 19, 2009), Paris (August 30, 2009) and at the Grand Final in La Baule (September 27, 2009) she was 18th, 14th and 18th.
In 2010, Verstuyft did not take part in any competition of this club championship, but still appears on the club's homepage under its elite triathletes.
She has been competing in the German Triathlon Bundesliga for the Stadtwerke Team Witten since 2015 .
2016 Summer Olympics
Kathrin Verstuyft qualified for a place at the 2016 Summer Olympics and started for Belgium on August 20 in Rio de Janeiro, but was lapped and therefore not rated.
Since 2017 she has also started in the middle distance (1.9 km swimming, 90 km cycling and 21.1 km running) and in September 2017 she won the Ironman 70.3 Weymouth. In August, the 35-year-old finished third in the national championship on the short distance.
In July 2018, the then 36-year-old won the Challenge Prague in the middle distance. In 2019 she became Belgian runner-up in the middle distance triathlon in Geraardsbergen .
Kathrin Verstuyft lives in Mortsel .
