history

The first known mention of Katzenbach falls in the year 1230 as part of a sale; Nothing is known about the founding of the town itself. Katzenbach may have been part of the estate of Otto von Botenlauben , which he sold to the Würzburg monastery in 1244 , and may later have been in the inheritance of the v. Family. Brende. From the 14th century on, Katzenbach was owned by the Frauenroth monastery .

Until 1588 Katzenbach belonged to the parish of Kissingen ; from 1594 to Stralsbach . The first Katzenbacher church was built in 1715. From 1794 the Katzenbach parish belonged to Poppenroth .

On January 1, 1972, Katzenbach became a district of Burkardroth as part of the municipal reform. In October 1971 surveys and votes had taken place in the villages incorporated after Burkardroth; of the 83 votes cast in Katzenbach, 44 were in favor of incorporation. Katzenbach's last mayor before the incorporation was Johann Höglmeier. As part of the territorial reform, the Katzenbach parish again went to the Stralsbach parish; In 1980 she moved to Waldfenster .

In 1978 the Katzenbach / Lauter sewage treatment plant was put into operation, which from 1988 also supplied forest windows. In 1979 the expansion of the sewer system was completed and in 1982 the local lighting was renewed.

St. Blaise Church

The first Katzenbach church building was built in 1714. When it turned out to be too small for the increasing demands, a church building association was established in 1912, but it was not until 1956 that today's St. Blasius Church could be built. Your high altar, which may have been in the Frauenroth monastery , was taken over from the previous church.

Museum barn

In a barn building built in 1926 at Weiherstraße 7 , which is now used as a museum , over 1,500 folkloric exhibits from Heinrich Muth's private collection are presented on three floors .
