Kavečany (Hungarian Kavocsán - 1888 to 1902 Kavecsán ) is a district of Košice , in Okres Košice I in eastern Slovakia , about seven kilometers north of the city center.

The oldest written mention of the place (as Kalachyan or Kalaczan ) comes from the year 1423 .
