Kevin Antonio Mirallas (born October 5, 1987 in Liège ) is a Belgian football player with Spanish and Greek roots. He is under contract with Royal Antwerp

Professional career

The beginnings (1999-2008)

Mirallas began his football career with his home club Standard Liège . There he went through almost all youth departments before he was sold to the Lille OSC in 2004 without a professional assignment in Liège . On May 7, 2005, the 35th matchday of the 2004/05 season , he played his first game for Lille in Ligue 1 at the age of 17 . He came on in the 81st minute and scored the only goal four minutes later in the 1-0 win over Paris Saint-Germain . After two more short appearances by Miralla, the season was finally over and Lille had qualified as runner-up for the Champions League . Mirallas was substituted on twice there, but, as in the league, did not go beyond the role of a reservist. In the two following seasons Mirallas then managed to become a regular player. But after only eight goals, as well as a tenth and a seventh place in the league, within two years he was sold to AS Saint-Étienne .

AS Saint-Étienne (2008-2010)

In Saint-Étienne, Mirallas became a regular player and made 30 league appearances in his first season. He also played eight European Cup games for the club, where he scored his first goal on the European stage in the match against Rosenborg Trondheim , with the 3-0 final score. In the further course of the 2008/09 UEFA Cup , Saint-Étienne eliminated, among other things, Miralla's future club Olympiacos , before the team lost to eventual finalists Werder Bremen in the quarter-finals . In the league, on the other hand, the team had to fight for relegation until the last matchday and was seventeenth at the end of the season with one point ahead of SM Caen . The following season was similar to the previous one and the team around Mirallas was again seventeenth in the final table.

Olympiacos Piraeus (2010–2012)

On June 17, 2010, Mirallas was loaned by Saint-Etienne to Olympiacos Piraeus for one season, which also secured a purchase option. He made his debut for Piraeus in qualifying for the UEFA Europa League against KS Besa Kavaja . He scored his first two goals in a 3-1 home win against Olympiakos Volos , after which he was set for the position as a center forward in the following games in the starting line-up. There he continued to perform well and scored a goal in the derby defeat against Panathinaikos Athens . In total, he came to the league to 27 appearances and scored 14 goals. At the end of the season he won the championship title with Piraeus and was finally signed by the club. The 2011/12 season was similarly successful for Mirallas, even if he was eliminated with Piraeus in the Champions League group stage. Since the team finished third in the table, they qualified for the round of 32 of the UEFA Europa League . There he beat with Piraeus Rubin Kazan and then failed in the next round to Metalist Kharkiv . In the national competitions he was much more successful and won in addition to the double - from championship and cup - also the top scorer in the national league with 20 goals. After his contract expired at the end of the season, he moved to England for Everton FC .

Everton FC (2012-2019)

Mirallas made his debut against Aston Villa in August 2012 . Despite several injuries, he made 151 appearances for the "Toffees". His contract was extended for three years in May 2017. On January 7, 2018, Everton FC announced that Mirallas would join his old employer from Piraeus on loan for six months in order to regain more gaming experience. After returning from this loan, there was another one year at Fiorentina .

Royal Antwerp

After returning from Florence, Mirallas was absent from Everton's first three games in the 2019/20 season. At the end of August, a free transfer to the Belgian first division Royal Antwerp was agreed. Mirallas signed a contract there for a period of one year.

Belgian national team

Mirallas went through various youth national teams. With the Belgian U-21 national team he then took part in the 2007 European Championship in the Netherlands, where he also scored two goals. His team failed only in the semifinals against the slightly favored Serbs with 0-2. In the same year he made his first appearances in the senior national team and even scored a goal in the qualifying game for the European Championship 2008 against Serbia . However, Belgium's performance was not enough to qualify. For this Mirallas was in the same year in the squad of the Belgian national team at the Olympic Games in Beijing . During the Olympic tournament he even got two hits and he reached the semi-finals with his team, where they failed due to the selection of Nigeria . In the years that followed, he failed with the national team in both the 2010 World Cup qualification and the 2012 European Championship qualification .

The Belgian national team qualified for the 2014 World Cup. Mirallas was on the field in all qualifying games with the exception of the away game against Macedonia . During the tournament itself he played from the second group game to the round of 16, in which Belgium was eliminated by Argentina . He was only absent from the following qualifying matches for the 2016 European Championship due to a thigh injury. But even when this was healed, he was not part of the national team or was not used. At the tournament itself he was not part of the Belgian squad.

After that, there were some appearances in qualifying matches for the 2018 World Cup and in friendly matches. Mirallas didn't play the full length of any game. His last international match so far was against Saudi Arabia on March 27, 2018 .
