Kinzigtal is a district of Wolfach in the Ortenaukreis in Baden-Württemberg .

location

The place is east of Wolfach, in the direction of Schiltach in the Kinzig valley of the same name . The center is the Halbmeil settlement. The mountain village of St. Roman, on the other hand, is a district of Kinzigtal and thus Wolfach.

history

It was first mentioned as Kinzichental in 1246. The Kinzigtal staff was responsible for Halbmeil and the surrounding valleys within Fürstenberg . The seat of this staff was the "Oberthörle" (also called "Schiltacher Thor") in Wolfach. After this burned down in 1849, the town hall was relocated to Halbmeil. Kinzigtal became its own municipality in 1832. On December 1, 1971, this was incorporated into Wolfach. The Fürstenberg costume is maintained in Kinzigtal . Kinzigtal-Halbmeil is a stop at the Kinzigtalbahn . Another side valley of the Kinzig, which also largely belongs to Kinzigtal, is the Heubach valley near Schiltach.

The following hamlets, farms, valleys and residential areas belong to the village of Kinzigtal:

  • Half a mile with the Spinnershof, Leibach, Sulzbach, Erdlinsbach, Grub, Horben
The Vor Heubach area came to Schiltach on July 1, 1978.

church

Before the Reformation, the Kinzig valleys in Schiltach went to church. When Schiltach was reformed, however, people went to church in Wolfach; the Evangelicals still belong to the Schiltach parish. Kinzigtal is predominantly Catholic, as it used to belong to Fürstenberg until around 1800, like Wolfach. St. Roman is an independent parish to this day . St. Roman is located in the Sulzbächletal , a small side valley of the Kinzig. Citizens of Kinzigtäler who are Catholic and do not belong to the parish of St. Roman, which does not adhere to parish boundaries, belong to the Catholic parish of Wolfach, but sometimes also visit the Catholic church in Schiltach, which is now also available.

Power on

St. Roman is located in the Black Forest mountain landscape. There is a 12.5 km long cross-country ski run.

The church in St. Roman is first mentioned as a branch church of Wolfach in 1360. In 1784 it becomes a parish church . It is expanded from 1922 to 1923.

The Hansjakobweg I hiking trail leads directly past the church, where the forester's original Prince of the Devil's Stone is buried in the cemetery .

In the Kinzigtal district near Schiltach there is the Dohlenbach waterfall , a waterfall with 4 slopes over 30 m, which is very difficult to reach.
