The . Church of the Holy Great Martyr Tsar Lazar ( Serbian : Црква Светог великомученика цара Лазара, Crkva Svetog velikomučenika cara Lazara) in Kruškovo Polje , a village in the Opština (municipality) Šamac , is a Serbian Orthodox church building in northern Bosnia and Herzegovina .

The church, built from 1993 to 1996 and consecrated to the Holy Great Martyr and Tsar Lazar , is the parish church of the parish Kruškovo Polje in the Modriča - Gradačac deanship of the Zvornik - Tuzla eparchy of the Serbian Orthodox Church.

location

The Church of St. Tsar Lazar stands in the center of the village of Kruškovo Polje, which has around 630 inhabitants. The place is located in the southwest of the municipality capital Šamac.

The Opština Šamac is located in the Republika Srpska , the predominantly Serbian part of Bosnia and Herzegovina .

The parish Kruškovo Polje includes the villages: Kruškovo Polje, Lugovi , Gornji Hasić and Donji Hasić . The parish branch church is in the village of Lugovi.

history

The parish of Kruškovo Polje was established in 1995. However, until 1998 the entries in the parish registers of the parish Kruškovo Polje were continued in the parish Miloševac in Opština Modriča . Only from 1998 does the parish keep its own parish and church books.

Construction of the church began on October 20, 1993. The church was built according to a design by Živojin Mitrović from the north-east Bosnian city of Bijeljina . A week later, on October 27, 1993, the foundations of the church were consecrated by the then bishop of the Zvornik-Tuzla Vasilije (Kačavenda) eparchy . Most of the church construction took place at the time of the Bosnian War (1992–1995).

After almost three years of construction, the church was completed, and on September 8, 1996 it was inaugurated by Bishop Vasilije (Kačavenda) with the help of the then Bishop of the Eparchy Mileševa in southwest Serbia Vasilije (Veinović).

The current priest of the church is Nebojša Tovirac .

The church was built in the traditional Serbian-Byzantine architectural style, with the dimensions 15.9 × 7 m and an altar - apse in the east, as well as a church tower with a small column entrance portal in the west.

Pero Nikolić , from the village of Kruškovo Polje, carved the iconostasis from walnut wood . The icons were painted by Aleksandar Vasiljević from the north-central Bosnian town of Doboj , and the frescoes inside the church were painted by Goran Pešić from the central Serbian town of Čačak .
