The Church of Our Lady of Czestochowa in Gliwice, Upper Silesia, is a Roman Catholic parish church. The modern style church dates from the end of the 20th century and is dedicated to the miraculous image of the Black Madonna of Czestochowa . The Church of Our Lady of Czestochowa belongs to the parish of Our Lady of Czestochowa in Gliwice in the Gliwice Deanery of the Diocese of Gliwice . It is located at Ulica Kilińskiego 2 in the Trynek (Trinneck) district.

history

The area of ​​today's parish originally belonged to the Archangel Michael parish . On October 4, 1981, Bishop Antoni Adamiuk blessed a cross and the building site for the new church. In 1983 the construction of the church began and Bishop Jan Wieczorek blessed and laid the first brick on the foundation. On December 4, 1984, the foundation stone was walled in by Bishop Alfons Nossol. The foundation stone was blessed in 1983 by Pope John Paul II on Sankt Annaberg . In 1985 the construction of the rectory began.

On August 27, 1988 the parish of Our Lady of Czestochowa was founded by the bishop of Opole Alfons Nossol (* 1932), which was split off from the Archangel Michael parish and the Peter and Paul parish. On October 6, 1991, the church was consecrated by Bishop Gerard Kusz (* 1939).

On the site of the church there is a mission cross and the graves of the priests Pastor Józef Maciaszek (builder of the church), Pastor T. Maciaszek and Pastor S. Prochacki.

architecture

The Church of Our Lady of Czestochowa is a modern building with a plaster facade and the entrance portal is made of clinker brick. There is a cross above the entrance. The church has a single freestanding bell tower.
