Kirsajty ( German  Kirsaiten ) in the Polish Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship is a residential area of Harsz ("przysiółek w Harsz", Harszen , 1936 to 1945 Haarschen ) within the rural community of Pozezdrze (Possessern , 1938 to 1945 Großgarten) in the powiat Węgorzewski ( Angerburg district ) .

The current Kirsajty peninsula and former Kirsaiten island is located in the northeast of the Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship between Jezioro Kirsajty (Lake Kirsaiten) and Jezioro Dargin (Lake Dargain) . The district town of Węgorzewo (Angerburg) is nine kilometers further north.

history

The once only small island farm Kirsaiten (now also Kirseiten ) was integrated into the Doben manor district ( Doba in Polish ) in the Angerburg district until 1928 . In 1905 there were 14 inhabitants here. On October 17, 1928, the island town merged with the neighboring communities of Groß Steinort ( Sztynort in Polish ), Klein Steinort (Sztynort Mały), Stawisken (1938 to 1945 ponds, Stawiska in Polish) and Stobben (Pniewo) to form the new rural municipality of Steinort (Sztynort).

As a result of the war, all of southern East Prussia and with it Kirsaiten came to Poland in 1945 and has been called "Kirsajty" in Polish since then. The small town, now located on a peninsula, is now the residential area of Harsz (Haarszen , 1936 to 1945 Haarschen) , a village in the rural community of Pozezdrze (Possessern , 1938 to 1945 Großgarten) in the powiat Węgorzewski ( Angerburg district ).

Religions

Until 1945 Kirsaiten was parish in the Protestant church in Doben and in the Catholic church Zum Guten Hirten Angerburg .

Today Kirsajty belongs to the Catholic parish of Pozezdrze and the Protestant parish of Giżycko (Lötzen) , which maintains a preaching office in Pozezdrze.
