Róg ( German  rye ) is a small town in the Polish Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship . It is a residential space in the village of Harsz ("przysiółek wsi Harsz", Haarszen , 1936 to 1945 Haarschen ) within the rural community of Pozezdrze (Possessern , 1938 to 1945 Großgarten) in the powiat Węgorzewski ( Angerburg district ).

Róg is located in the northeast of the Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship on the west bank of the Jezioro Mały Harsz (Small Hair Lake) , six kilometers south of the district town of Węgorzewo (Angerburg) .

history

The place called Roggen at the time was founded as a small settlement of eight Hufen as a riverside village and was first mentioned in 1570. At that time, the only two settlers had complained to the prince about their increased handicraft . In 1598 five farmers and one gardener are mentioned in the village.

Before 1945 the village of Roggen consisted of just a few farms. In 1874, the village in the newly built was District Haarszen integrated, which - renamed from 1936 to 1945 in "District Haar" - to 1945 and county Angerburg in Administrative district Gumbinnen the Prussian province of East Prussia belonged. In 1910 rye had 37 inhabitants.

On September 30, 1928, Roggen gave up its independence and merged with Haarszen and the Numeiten estate (in Polish: Okowizna ) to form the new rural community . In 1936 the spelling of the place name was changed from Haarszen to "Haarschen".

As a result of the war, the village and southern East Prussia became part of Poland in 1945 and since then has borne the Polish place name "Róg".
