Klaus Gerisch (born January 15, 1936 in Stollberg / Erzgeb. ) Is a German writer who was also a cabaret director in the GDR .

Life

Klaus Gerisch was born in Stollberg in the Ore Mountains in 1936. At a young age he trained as an electrician . He then attended the state sports school in Werdau and the workers and farmers faculty of the German University for Physical Culture (DHfK) in Leipzig, where he subsequently passed his Abitur.

Gerisch initially worked as an electrician, then as a specialist methodologist in the district cabinet for folk art . As a writer, he was a member of the Young Authors Working Group (AJA) Cottbus. From 1960 he was a freelance author. He wrote poems , reports and short stories for magazines and anthologies as well as plays for the workers' theater.

His entry into the cabaret "Hornets" took place in 1966, about ten years after it was founded by workers from the Schwarze Pump gas combine in Schwarze Pump near Spremberg . Later the famous cabaret moved to Cottbus. Gerisch acted as copywriter and artistic director ; he was only on the stage temporarily himself. The cabaret troupe , for example, also included Helga Zerrenz . The "hornets" were awarded gold medals three times at the GDR Workers' Festival. The experience in this area helped Gerisch to practice the writing profession: “In cabaret, for example, you learn to deal with punch lines . At readings I have repeatedly experienced the 'wrong laugh' and the sudden shock of it, so reactions that are the order of the day in cabaret. "

In 1973 he became party secretary of the basic organization of the GDR writers' association in the Cottbus district . The year before, Hinstorff Verlag had published his first novel Das Jahr und Katrin , for which he also presented a stage version. The play had its world premiere in 1974 at the Stadttheater Cottbus .

style

Characteristics of his books are the colloquial narrative tone and the episodic narrative form. They are about the arrival of young people in the socialist working and living conditions and the probation and realization associated with it.
