history

The former Strebersdorf Castle , which was built by Count Maximilian von Grimaus d'Orsay and came into the possession of Klosterneuburg Abbey in 1841 , was given to the Order of School Brothers in 1886 . The monastery church was built from 1887 to 1888, although the tower with the bells was not completed until 1925. The church is structurally connected to the former castle on the west side.

In 1908, the priest Edmund Anton Hawranek took over the management of the church and bought the house at Anton-Böck-Gasse 22 in order to build a parish in Strebersdorf. After the parish had been founded in 1939, the monastery church became a parish church in 1941 raised. Since the church no longer corresponded to a parish church, the new parish church Maria Königin was built at Edmund-Hawranek-Platz 3 between 1959 and 1961 .

The interior view of the parish and monastery church

The monastery church was built according to the plans of the architect Richard Jordan as a two-aisled monastery church in the neo-Gothic style in brick shell construction by the court architect Josef Schmalzhofer . The sandstone relief in the tympanum above the main entrance from 1922 is by Ludwig Schadler. The interior decoration is a design by Josef Kastner and was carried out by the artist and school brother Gabriel Weißenhofer; in the priestly choir it is a representation of the most holy sacrament, the ceiling frescoes represent the secrets of the rosary.

The high altar is by Domsteinmetz Hauser based on the design of the architect Richard Jordan. There are statues by Rochus Haas. On the left side altar is a statue of St. John of La Salle by Jenö Banyai. The Way of the Cross is by Martin Feuerstein . The bells from 1951 are from the Pfundner bell foundry . The organ from 1963 is the work of Orgelbau Walcker-Mayer from Guntramsdorf .
