The parish church of Nordrandsiedlung is a Roman Catholic parish church in the Nordrandsiedlung part of Vienna's 21st  district of Floridsdorf . The parish is located in the city Deanery 21 of the Vienna Archdiocese belonging city Vicariate Vienna . It is the Feast of the Assumption consecrated .

history

In 1934, on the initiative of Pastor J. Kepplinger of the Leopoldau parish church, the construction of a church was negotiated with the city of Vienna for the northern border settlement , because the 30 to 50 minute walk to Leopoldau was too far. In 1937 Josef Gorbach set up an emergency church in a cooperative building . In the course of the annexation of Austria to Hitler's Germany in 1938 this church was forced to close.

After the war, one of the main tasks of Father Hartwig Hubert Balzen of the Leopoldau parish church was the construction of an emergency church in the northern outskirts. In 1950, a piece of land at Triestinggasse 30 was acquired with the help of Klosterneuburg Abbey .

The church was consecrated on December 2, 1957 by Cardinal Theodor Innitzer as a parish exposition in the northern border settlement of Leopoldau, and with effect from January 1, 1979, Cardinal Franz König elevated it to the status of an independent parish church of the Assumption of Mary.
